Ancestry, if it can be believed, has his father as a Gamekeeper at Glenorchy and Inishail, Argyll in 1901.
They have James born at Fortingall, Peeblesshire. They have his mother born at Dull, Peebleshire, more nonsense.
Clearly both born Perthshire.
Looks like another error on SDGW _________________ Jim

Thanks Jim. Mark (dhubthaigh) has nailed him too and sent details.
James (junior) was also a gamekeeper, at Shennaton Estate just outside Newton Stewart.
He is listed on the Penninghame Parish WM in Newton Stewart and on the "next door" Kirkcowan Parish WM (where there is an unusual number of Royal Fusiliers) _________________ Ken |

He is also listed as Pte. James Grant, Royal Fusiliers on the Glenorchy and Innishail Parish WM in Dalmally.

but not (as far as I can see) on any of the Perthshire WM's. _________________ Ken |
