Additional Information:
Son of James and Catherine Grant, of Cromwell Park, Almondbank, Perthshire. Native of Dalmally, Argyll.
James was born in 1893 in Balmenock, Glenlyon, Innerwick, Perthshire.
In 1901 the family were living in Dalmally, Glenorchy & Innishail.
He was a gamekeeper on the Shennanton Estate near Newton Stewart, Wigtownshire when he enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers. He and his mother were living in Glasnick, Kirkcowan and he is listed on the Kirkcowan Parish War Memorial and on the Penninghame Parish War Memorial in Newton Stewart.
SDGW and his Medal Roll show that he enlisted as Private (4613) 30th (Reserve) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. He went to France as Private (68270) in March 1917 and was posted to the 10th Royal Fusiliers on 18 April 1917. Three days later he was dead.
