Son of James and Catherine Grant, of Cromwell Park, Almondbank, Perthshire. Native of Dalmally, Argyll.

Born about 1894. SDGW has born "Tootinghall, Perth" Resident, Kirkcowan. Enlisted, Newton Stewart.
Can anyone help with birth registration districts for Dalmally and Tootinghall, please ?????

A local newspaper has son of the late James Grant of Dalmally, Argyll.

Ancestry, if it can be believed, has his father as a Gamekeeper at Glenorchy and Inishail, Argyll in 1901.
They have James born at Fortingall, Peeblesshire. They have his mother born at Dull, Peebleshire, more nonsense.
Clearly both born Perthshire.

Looks like another error on SDGW

Thanks Jim. Mark (dhubthaigh) has nailed him too and sent details.
James (junior) was also a gamekeeper, at Shennaton Estate just outside Newton Stewart.
He is listed on the Penninghame Parish WM in Newton Stewart and on the "next door" Kirkcowan Parish WM (where there is an unusual number of Royal Fusiliers)
