This sailor was lost when HMS Glorious was sunk off Norway in 1940. SNWM gives his place of birth as Grangemouth but he's not on that memorial. It's quite a rare surname so I was wondering if anyone has noticed it on a Second World War memorial? I've done a search on our forum for Ivel and it only shows up a First World War name on Brora's memorial.

Adam
Although he married in Edinburgh in 1929, his home address was in Falkirk. His widow was still staying in Falkirk when she died in 1980 so it is possible he would be remembered as a Falkirk resident. I noted from the Falkirk war memorial entry on the site that no names are recorded

Douglas, thanks very much for looking into it for me. That ties in with the Grangemouth connection. I'll maybe have a look at what we've got in the church, school, other sections for Falkirk memorials.
Kind regards
