Peter Beattie has been reprised after more than five years. Some further supporting documentation has been found and after consideration Terry Denham has, today, forwarded a case commemoration.

At the risk of repeating myself another "fingers crossed" submission.

Mark - Did you get access to the St. Andrew's Church memorial on which Peter is named?

If so, could you add a link to this thread please. I've had a look, but I can't see it.

Thanks.

Anne,

The story of the memorial and one to the minister, Charles Robertson, are within the 'memorials in danger' thread.

Hugh Macrae put a lot of effort into trying to have these memorials saved and relocated but no takers. Such a shame.

The church is presently for sale.

EDIT:

Just noticed a story I posted on page 5 of the thread about the memorial to the congregation being relocated. Don't know if that happened, Will follow up. No mention of the Charles Robertson memorial though.

I know that WMT had some involvement last September so I have asked them for an update.

As far as i am aware the Riverside Church(ultimate successor to St Andrew`s) are relocating the two plaques(WW1 dead and Charles Robertson, minister) still within the old church to their garden, once listed building consent has been agreed.
They are not willing to house the congregational Roll of Honour(on which both Henry and Peter Beattie are listed) and neither is Perth Museum. It is currently in my safekeeping until a solution is found.

What a poor show during the First World War centenary that it can't be found a new home but at least it is in safe keeping for now.

Kind regards

Only 12 out of 10?

C'mon Mr. Morrison - that deserves a much higher score let alone a gold star!

Well done yet again Mark.

There was no further information available in March when I enquired (sorry, I should have posted to say so) but I have again asked WMT for an update.

Great work to get yet another man commemorated.

Paul,

I take it there has been nothing further learned on Riverside's proposal for the relocation of the memorials.
