Andrew Christie – age 29 – Private (G/69310) 2/2nd (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers).
Formerly Private (T4/056922) Army Service Corps.
Andrew had been a butcher in Creetown and was employed in Troon, Ayrshire when he enlisted in the ASC in October 1914. He went to France early in 1916 and at some point was transferred to the London Regiment.
Born 1889 in Whithorn, Wigtownshire. Son of Andrew and Agnes (Campbell) Christie of Thorniebrock, Creetown. Husband of Agnes (Dalzell) Christie of High Street, Irvine, Ayrshire who he married in 1912 in Irvine.
Killed in Action on 21 March 1918 and buried in Chauny Communal Cemetery British Extension, Aisne, France.

Named on the Lockerbie War Memorial in Dumfriesshire as:

Walter McGinlay – age 29 – Leading Seaman (Clyde Z/1002) Hawke Battalion, Royal Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.
Walter was a quarryman when he enlsted in October 1914. He was posted to the Hawke Battalion in February 1915 and went with them to Gallipoli.
Born 1886 in Troqueer, Kirkcudbrightshire. Son of James and Jessie (Lockerbie) McGinlay of Skedholm, Greenhill Lockerbie. Husband of Susan Beatty (Ewart or Euart) McGinlay of 8 Friars Croft Street, Irvine, Ayrshire and of 2 Well Street, Lockerbie who he married in 1906 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.
Missing in Action on 29 June 1915 and named on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

His brother, William McGinlay – age 33 – Sergeant (7933) 1st Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers, was killed at Gallipoli 2 months earlier (26 April 1915) and is also named on the Helles and Lockerbie Memorials.

In 1898 an Ayr Court took John Cherry into care. He was sent to Quarrier Homes in Glasgow & then to No.6 Cottage,Bridge of Weir. On 29/04/1905, John Cherry(58164) along with another 101 children sailed from Glasgow on S.S.Corinthian arriving at Quebec City on 08/05/1905,destination Brockville, Ontario. He was placed in a home at Westport,Ontario.
He enlisted in the C.E.F. at Barriefield,Ontario under the name of John Cherry Boyd on 13/09/1915. His name is on Westport WW1 War Memorial.
He had an illegitimate half brother,Samuel Boyd who was born at Fullarton St.,Irvine.
