Private MacInnes is not listed in the SNWM database so I'm assuming his death was accidental.
From Britain's Small Wars Website
http://www.britains-smallwars.com/Aden/units.html
Seaforth Highlanders
Seaforths, with attached 2Fd Amb, Troop of cavalry ferrets and other support flown from canal Zone to relieve RAF Regiment in up country fort besieged by insurgents. After successful relief they served for another 6 months up country till relieved. I believe this was the start of the insurgency but has not been included in the date parameters for some reason. No clasp awarded for this action despite deaths and wounded. Thanks to Cyril Allen for this entry.
The Seaforths were the first troops into Aden in July 1955, from the Canal Zone. |

Roll of Honour for Skye & Lochalsh by Graham Ross . This roll is held in the Portree library and in Inverness library.
Sleat War Memorial :
The Sleat War Memorial was unveiled by General Sir Walter Ross KBE, CB, on Monday, 2 October 1922 . The names of the 51 Men who appear on the Memorial were read out by Colonel Kemble . This is the only memorial in Skye on which the actual addresses of the fallen are given.
The Memorial is to be found , near Kilmore Church , on a knoll overlooking the Sound of Sleat not far from the main road from Broadford to Armadale , the A851
.
