I looked at these two images, and wondered how much the Memorial had changed in the years since it was unveiled. There's quite a bit of weathering, particularly the two bits marked. How are your Memorials standing up to the rigours of the Scottish climate?

that doesn't look like weathering to me, more like the handles that local neds would use when climbing the wall and they 'came away in their hands'.
great to see an older picture alongside the new

A possible reason, but not due to weathering. If one came " adrift " it is possible the other was simply removed to " balance " it. As was often the case, although not intentional when constructed, it was possible to add the casualties of the 2nd Word War in sympathy with the original tribute. _________________ Jim

Yes, I can see that happening, perhaps not deliberate vandalism, just someone trying to bypass locked gates

Thanks for that. I hadn't thought of vandlism. In Aberfeldy? i have never seen the gates shut, so will see if I can find more.
Architect's original drawing, pretty close to the finished article?

The memorial seems to be significantly different from this drawing. _________________ Jim

i suppose it is Jim. I think this was a drawing submitted to the War Memorial Committee for consideration. No doubt due to costs, bits were changed. The basic concept didn't really change?

Looks like there's been a name added to the right hand WW1 panel some time after the first pic was taken as well |

If you're right, last name added was " After 1945 James Campbell RAF "
Not sure who he is, or why he was added to the WW1 Memorial, after 1945?

That's the name but still puzzled as there is a space on the right hand WW2 panel where his name could have been added |

are we sure that it is not a WW2 death? it could be a WW2 commemoration from 1946 or 47 before the cutoff and would not be on the Armed Forces Memorial

A decent image of the memorial and detail would be helpful. Does anyone local have a recent one? _________________ Jim

Mike
That is much clearer. I would take these to be men who served in WW1 and died of injuries some years later. Same for WW2. _________________ Jim
