Kirkmichael - Kyle & Carrick District

The Kirkmichael war memorial is in the form of a bronze memorial tablet flanked by pillasters set into the wall of the kirkyard.
It stands at the bend in the road in the village.

It seems a little unusual that there is no mention on or around this memorial of those lost in the Second World War from this village. I had a look around the environs of the church (a couple of days ago) and even briefly inside and could see nothing in acknowledgment of the fallen of WW2. Can anyone shed any light on this? Was the village exceptionally lucky that there were no WW2 casualties?
