Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay of Leitholm has had a plaque unveiled in his memory in St Paul’s Cathedral. Here is what BBC Scotland says about it.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/south_of_scotland/6299523.stm
And a more detailed Berwickshire Today article
http://www.berwickshiretoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=972&ArticleID=1964500
Berwickshire Today mentions some other memorials he is listed on. Any that are missing from the lists I have been posting will be added to the lists.
Borders Civic
Leitholm. Civic memorial, Location – Bughtrig Gardens (I think Adml Ramsay is one of only four names listed for WW2 on this memorial)
Borders Individual
Duns, Ramsay Memorial Window, Location – Christ Church, Duns. Additional Info Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay.
Outside Scotland, Individual
Portsmouth, Ramsay Memorial Window, Location – Portsmouth Cathedral . Additional Info Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay.
Dover, Ramsay Memorial Statue, Location – Dover Castle. Additional Info Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay. Erected 2000
And now the latest memorial
London, Ramsay Memorial Plaque, Location – Crypt, St Paul’s Cathedral. Additional Info Admiral Sir Bertram Ramsay. Unveiled 25th January 2006.
Here is the Admiral’s CWGC entry
Name: RAMSAY, Sir BERTRAM HOME
Initials: B H
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Admiral
Regiment/Service: Royal Navy
Unit Text: Allied Naval Commander in Chief.
Age: 61
Date of Death: 02/01/1945
Awards: KCB, KBE, MVO
Additional information: Grand Officier Legion de Honneur (France), Commander Legion of Merit (U.S.A.), Order of Ushakov (Russia). Son of Brigadier-General William Alexander Ramsay and Mrs. Ramsay; husband of Lady Ramsay (nee Menzies), of Coldstream, Berwickshire.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Grave 9.
Cemetery: ST. GERMAIN-EN-LAYE NEW COMMUNAL CEMETERY
I notice his father and his son were both Army officers but he joined the Navy.
He is not listed in the Scottish National War Memorial. I take it he doesn’t meet their criteria.

His family still live locally and when I went to photograph the Leitholm memorial there was a wreath from the Ramsay family laid on it.

Adam
He is listed on SNWM database, see below. They have his first name as Sir which is why you did not find him. In the interests of equality in death, in my view, I believe this is wrong.
Although listed as Sir Bertram Ramsay on CWGC he can only be found as B or BH Ramsay, not S or Sir.
Surname RAMSAY
Firstname Sir Bertram Home
Service number
Date of death 02/01/1945
Decoration K.C.B K.B.E MVO
Place of birth
Other
SNWM roll ROYAL NAVY AND ROYAL MARINES
Rank Admiral

James
Many thanks for finding him on the SNWM database. I would never have thought of looking under S! I should have checked by date.
I'm glad he's in there however he is listed.
Kind Regards
