I'm trying to dot the "i" 's and cross the "t" 's on this man but can't find a MIC or an entry on SDGW.
Private James Stewart 2nd (London) Field Ambulance, RAMC died on 9/6/1918 and is buried in Ecoivres Military Cemetery, Mont-St. Eloi, Arras.
Service No. 318166 on CWGC but 318100 on SNWM (looks like a typo or scanning error)
He has been researched by JohnH for the Glasgow Police Memorial and I have confirmed that he is the man listed on the Penninghame WM in Newton Stewart, together with three brothers -
Charles Stewart d.30/9/17, 1/15th London Regiment.
Peter Stewart d.25/9/1915, 9th Gordon Highlanders
William Stewart d. 3/10/1918, 35th F.A. RAMC.
(There is another James Stewart b. Newton Stewart on SDGW but he served in MGC and died 1/11/1918). _________________ Ken |

Thanks for that Jim - and for a while I was sure that it was the same man but John's research with the police personnel files proved that it was not.
I was able to confirm this at this end.
So I have to assume that one of the James Stewarts on SDGW without a birthplace (or residence?) is the RAMC man. _________________ Ken |
