Two brothers, one of whom is well commemorated, the other not so.

Name SCLANDERS, CHARLES MACLURE
Initials: CM
Nationality: United Kingdom

Regiment/Service: London Regiment (Queen's Westminster Rifles) 16th Bn.
Date of Death: 12/4/1918
Panel Reference: Panel 11.
Memorial: Ploegsteert Memorial

Also named on Wellington Church Memorial, in the Elder Memorial Chapel, Western Infirmary where there is also a personal memorial to him.

His brother, Robert Sclanders is also commemorated on the Wellington Church memorial. He had served in the South African War before emigrating to Canada. Enlisted as Pte 1698 with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry but suffered a bullet wound to the right skull and was subsequently demobilised as unfit for further service in June 1915. He died on 17 February 1918 at Saskatoon where he was interred. He is not commemorated on CWGC although there are investigations by the Saskatchewan Virtual War Memorial team as to whether his wound contributed to his death.
