The "Canada War Graves Record(circumstances of casualties)" shows that Gilbert died of wounds at No 6 Clearing Statiion and gives the location of Barlin cemetery as "2¼ miles South West of Noeux-les-Mines, France"

His wife is a daughter of Mrs Caldwell, Glasgow Street, Ardrossan, and is at present residing there. Pte. Dow was previously gassed"
