Robert served with the Royal Scots Fusiliers, service number 28940. He was discharged from the Army as medically unfit as a chronic condition he suffered from was aggravated by "ordinary military service". He received a pension from the Army.

Robert lived at Seafield Cottage, Ardrossan, His parents were Robert and Isabella, nee Hislop. He died on 25 March 1918 at home of a gastric haemorrhage caused by the condition, chronic splenic anaemia. He was 21 years old and a shipping clerk

Thomas's attestation papers show he was born on 7 November 1896 in Ardrossan.

The Canada Military Honours citation card shows the Military Medal was awarded on 9 September 1918. The Canada War Register(Circumstances of Casualties) has the following entry for Thomas "Previously reported missing, now killed in action" "Was in charge of a Bombing Section and was last seen "jumping off" on August 28th 1918 during the attack in the vicinity of Vis-en-Artois. No details are available as to the actual circumstances of his death"

William's service record shows he enlisted on 7 January 1915 age 21 years 6 months; was a farm labourer and born in Ardrossan. He embarked in Sydney Australia on "Argyllshire" on 9 April 1915. He was buried at Shell Green, Gallipoli by Rev G Robertson. A letter to his father on 26th April 1916 from the Australian war records says William was killed in action at Anzac Cove.

The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald intimations database has three entries for William which confirm his fathers name, age and that William was living in Australia.

There are several entries for Donald in the Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald intimations database which show he was the nephew of Mr & Mrs King and the nephew of Mr and Mrs S Hardie, of Fairlie
