Location: in the village, Isle of Berneray
Grid Ref: NF920817
UKNIWM Ref: 57327
Count: WWI=18, WWII=4
There is a number of islands named Berneray in the Western Isles. This one is the one attached to the north of North Uist by a causeway (since 1999). Traditionally Berneray belonged to the parish of Harris.

MacCuish is quite an unusual surname and from the other entries in the CWGC database it seems to be peculiar to the Western Isles. I looked up the two men from Berneray with that surname. Both entries have a different spelling for Berneray.

The name MacCuish also occurs in South Harris - see the entry on the War Graves Project for Scarista. |
