Additional Information:Son of Robert Hogg, of Netheryett, Annan Rd., Dumfries.

Stewart was living at 11 Watt Street, Greenock when he enlisted in December 1915. He was working for the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company as a porter at the Princes Pier Station. Initially he was placed in the Army Reserve but was mobilised in April 1917 and posted to the 11th A&SH in France in the following June. In December he was accidentally wounded in a grenade explosion and evacuated to hospital. On his return to France in May 1918 he was posted to the 2nd battalion.

William was a clerk in the Dumfries parcel office of the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company when he enlisted. He was wounded at Loos on 25 September 1915 and died in the 20th General Hospital at Camiers, near Etaples.
Son of Thomas and Janet (Rutherford) Kerr.

William was a porter with the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company at Ardrossan Station when he enlisted in August 1914, initially in the Black Watch. He transferred to the KOSB before he went to France in July 1915.
Born 1887 in Dumfries. Son of William and Agnes Lockerbie of 177 St. Michael's Street, Dumfries.
Husband of Alice McCardle (Palmer) Lockerbie of 160 St. Michael's Street who he married in 1909 in Dumfries.

Fergus had been a clerk with the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company at Cummertrees Station, where his father had been the Station-master, and then at Dumfries Station. He had enlisted in March 1917 and was in training when he was taken ill. He died in Greenock Infirmary.
Born 1898 in Cummertrees, Dumfriesshire. Son of the late Helen (McDougall) Mckinnell and of the late William McKinnell, Station-master at Cummertrees. Step-son of Margaret (Skilling) McKinnell of Murray House, Lockerbie Road, Dumfries.

Stuart Rankin of the G&SWR Association has kindly sent me the 24 pages of the dedication programme for the unveiling of this memorial at St. Enoch's Station in Glasgow.
I have posted the first five pages but if anyone wants to see the remainder please let me know.

George enlisted in 1904 and was transferred to the Army Reserve in 1907. He was a waiter at the Glasgow and South West Railway's Station Hotel in Ayr when he was recalled to his regiment in August 1914.
Born 1885 in Gatehouse-of-Fleet – as George Alfred Patterson. Son of Margaret Anne Patterson of High Street, Gatehouse.
Grandson of John and Margaret (Robertson) Fisher of Gatehouse.
Husband of Jeanie (Brown) Fisher of 68 Mill Street, Ayr who he married in 1911 in Ayr.
Died on Active Service – 18 April 1916. “Accidentally killed” (Source: Service Record)
Commonwealth War Grave – Bruay Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
Named on the Anwoth and Girthon Was Memorial in Gatehouse-of-Fleet and on the Ayr War Memorial.

William was a Porter and Clerk at Bridge of Dee Railway Station and a member of the Territorials he was mobilised in August 1914 in 1/5th KOSB. Transferred to 7/8 KOSB. Served in Egypt, Palestine, Somme, Arras and Vimy Ridge. Killed at Soissones.
Born 1897 at Ingleston Gatehouse, Twynholm, Kirkcudbrightshire.

Named on the Castle Douglas War Memorial.

Husband of Lizzie (Flinn) Maxwell of 40 College Street, Maxwelltown who he married in 1905 in Troqueer.

Named on the Maxwelltown/Troqueer War Memorial and on the Maxwelltown United Free Church Memorial now Maxwelltown West Church.

James was the son of Sergeant McAdam of the Stewartry Constabulary and was a clerk at Tarff Railway Station when he enlisted in June 1916. He was killed near Soissons.
Born 1897 in Kirkcudbright. Son of William and Elizabeth (Bell) McAdam of the Police Buildings, Maxwelltown and later of Cannycleuch, Stepford Rd. Dumfries.
Also listed on the Laurieknowe Church Memorial now in Troqueer Parish Church.

Callander, James. K.O.S.B. - East Cluden

(Glasgow Herald 29th April)
"News has been received that Corporal James Callander, of the 2nd King's Own Scottish Borderers, who lived at 8 David Street, Maxwelltown, was killed on 17th inst. at the taking of Hill 60. Corporal Callander was a Reservist, and was engaged in all the fighting from Mons onwards. He was 33 years of age, and engaged as a signalman with the Glasgow and South Western Railway Company at the Cairn Valley Junction near Dumfries. He leaves a widow and three children."

Robert was an engine cleaner with the Glasgow & South Western Railway Company at Hurleford near Kilmarnock.
Born 1895 at Kirkcudbright. Son of James and Catherine (Watson) Milligan of Blairshinnoch Farm, Kirkgunzeon, Kircudbrightshire and of Beeswing Village.
Named on the Kirkgunzeon Parish War Memorial and on the Parish Church Roll of Honour, together with his brother James Milligan – age 24 – Private (S/6444) 7th Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders was reported missing in action on 12 October 1917.
Commonwealth War Grave – Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

James was wounded at Loos in the same action that his brother was killed
