Regiment: Cameron Highlanders

The record of soldiers died in the Great War shows James was born in Denny, Stirlingshire and lived in Stevenston. His service record, which is badly damaged , shows James was 19 and a Labourer living at 4 Ardeer Cottage, Stevenston. This is the address shown for his mother Margaret who was originally shown as next of kin but this was crossed out and replaced by his father William living at 4 "Kirkgate" Saltcoats - the address is very smudged. The record shows James as missing on 31 July 1917, then a Prisoner of War. He died of bronchitis in Hospital Complementaire 25 section on 28 Dec 1918
