I have been in contact with the Commanding Officer of 3 Rifles and have been invited to document and photograph the new memorial in Redford Barracks some time next week.
I will keep you all posted.

Hi Shona,
While you are there, it may be worth asking if there are any other memorials in the Barracks.

I was planning to do that. I will ask when I phone to arrange a time, in case we need to get permission to enter any buildings etc, however I can't remember any from when I spent some time in the officers mess there in the 80's, but I suppose I wasn't looking!!!!!! (and it was a long time ago)

I recall a chapel in Redford Barracks, that would be worth a try.

I would like to thank Lt Col Kitson who gave me permission to take the photos and to Major C Willis who kindly gave up his time to escort me backwards and forwards and tell me about the brave lads that they lost. |

As Redford Barracks was on the recently announced closure list, I hope that the above memorial and bench will be suitably preserved (relocated?).
