I came across this CWGC entry today

HAY, ANDREW SPENCER
Initials: A S
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Drummer
Regiment/Service: Cameron Highlanders
Unit Text: 1st Bn.
Age: 20
Date of Death: 04/11/1914
Service No: 8587
Additional information: Son of Col. Serjt. Hay (1st Bn. Cameron Highlanders) and Maria Hay, of Edinburgh. Eleven blood relations of the same family also fell.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: III. B. 31.
Cemetery: BOULOGNE EASTERN CEMETERY

Is there any way of finding out any of the eleven other blood relations who fell?

Adam

Unless documented somewhere locally the best chance would be in geneological research of this family. That might still not be conclusive as they might have included a very wide family circle in that.
As far as I can tell this is the only CWGC entry with that detail added by NOK.

I'd never seen anything like it before so thought it worth pointing out. Since no immediate family members are mentioned I assume they are cousins and uncles so many may not have a surname of Hay. An Edinburgh address doesn't help either.

Thanks

Obviously there could have been younger brothers, but we'll have to wait a couple of years for that to come out, but for now, at least we know 2 out of 11
