This memorial was constructed to commemorate the centenary of the Great War Armistice by Paul Goodwin from research by Paul Goodwin and Ken Morrison.
It takes the form of a printed roll of names (26cm X 32cm) mounted on foamboard. It was unveiled informally in the Catstrand Art Centre, New Galloway on 1st November 2018 as the centrepiece of a display entitled "The Coming of the Peace" to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice. The memorial will be removed from display at the end of November and placed into storage to be displayed on future occasions.
It includes the 82 men and one woman listed on the 4 civic war memorials of the Glenkens (Kells (New Galloway), Dalry, Balmaclellan and Carsphairn) with additional biographical information from research and recorded in order of Date of Death.
The PDF file used to print the memorial can be obtained from Paul Goodwin.

I am pleased to say this is now recorded as WMR report 80051.
I have referenced how to access the names as it seems a pointless exercise for me to re-index 82 names with all that information on, when there is a perfectly clear image of it, and the names are already indexed on the relevant memorial records. |
