If memory serves the memorial is on bridge street, on the left before crossing the Earn heading south out of the village.

According to the Strathearn Herald Comrie`s tribute to the sacrifice of its men also included buying the Bridgend Hotel opposite the Memorial site and converting it into an Institute for the village.
The Institute was opened by the Duke of Atholl on 21 August 1921.
The base and column of the Memorial are of Forest of Dean stone.

The Parish of Comrie`s Part in the Great War 1914-1918 states that the War Memorial was erected at a cost of £450 and unveiled on Sunday 27th April 1921 by Lady Moncrieffe.Captain Rockey of Lawers addressed those gathered.in the absence on military duty of Sir Robert Moncrieffe of Moncrieffe.The proceedings were presided over by the Rev ABWann,Parish Minister.The Memorial is of Forest of Dean stone and was supplied by the Army&Navy Stores in London.It was erected by James McCowan&son of Dalginross,Comrie with Alex Laird responsible for landscaping and James Crerar,blacksmith, for gateway alterations.

The War Memorial Institute(previously the Bridgend Hotel) was acquired for £1600 with alterations costing another £650 and was opened for use in january 1920.The formal opening was on 21st August 1921 by the Duke of Atholl

A Captain at the age of 23???? and, I assume, killed during flight training in Canada. There's got to be a story - but.......can't find anything on this young man anywhere Confused

Sergt Angus McGregor Rifle Brigade.

This man is named on the Kirkcudbright Academy memorial as:

McGREGOR, ANGUS.
Angus Donald MacGregor – age 29 – Sergeant (B/201202) 13th Battalion, Rifle Brigade.
Angus was born, brought up and educated in Kirkcudbright before the family moved to Kilmorack near Inverness. He was a butcher, like his father, and was employed in Bonnybridge, Stirlingshire when he enlisted. Angus had previously served as a Territorial in the Black Watch and he joined the Army Service Corps as Sergeant (S/4/158559). He transferred to the 16th Rifles before moving to the 13th Battalion.
Born 1888 in Kirkcudbright as McGregor. Son of the late Helen or Nellie (Russell) MacGregor and of Alexander MacGregor of Seton Cottage, Dalginross, Comrie, Perthshire, who had married in 1885 in Kirkcudbright.
Died of Wounds on 24 October 1918 and buried in Delsaux Farm Cemetery, Beugny, France.
Also named on the Bonnybridge War Memorial but not on the Kirkcudbright War Memorial.
