Trossachs
A memorial to the soldiers belonging to or native to Trossachs parish fallen in the war has been placed in Trossachs church. It consists of a shrine made of teak from the timber of HMS Britannia with a cross of copper inlaid. The honoured roll contains 18 names which is a large sacrifice from a parish of less than 300 population. The cost has been provided by general subscription. The names are as follows:

Trossachs and Callander Kirk now form a linked charge with services held in both buildings. I've posted this under "Civic Memorials" as, although the memorial is sited in the church building, the Observer report states it is to the men of the parish (rather than solely to members/adherents of the church)

Trossachs Parish Church is a small church built in 1849 by the architect G. P. Kennedy of Glasgow. The church sits to the W of the village of Brig O'Turk in a picturesque position on the N banks of Loch Achray..............

On the S wall of the nave is a green marble memorial plaque to Major General Limond, with a brass centurion figurine to the head and a brass hunting scene panel inset............

The S entrance vestibule houses separate wooden War Memorial plaques for WWI and II.

PS The only reference I can find to Major General Limond is that his son, Alexander, died in India in 1895 and I can't find a connection to Trossachs (but I have every faith someone out there will find it!!)

Lieutenant Alexander Limond - 6th Punjab Infantry - Died of wounds at Camp Boya, Waziristan - 14th July 1895.
Aged 28. Son of Major-General David Limond, CB, RE.
Memorial at the War Memorial Church, Sandhurst Military Academy - "In loving memory of Alexander Limond. Lieut. 6th Punjab Infantry. Gentleman Cadet 1887-88 (son of Major-General David Limond, CB, RE) died of wounds inflicted by ghazi fanatics in camp Boya at the close of the Waziristan Campaign. 14th May 1895, aged 28 years."

There are only two DUNSMUREs on the whole of the CWGC Register.

There is apparently a family grave in Deans Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Additional Information:Son of James Noble Graham, D.L., J.P., of Carfin and Stonebyres, Lanarkshire; husband of Marion Bethea Alexander Graham (now Lady O'Donnell). A.D.C. to His Excellency the Viceroy of India.

His is the only CWGC grave in the Churchyard and it's especially odd since he died in Bombay, India.

The CWGC grave registration documents show the father J N Graham as late of Achray, Trossachs and that his eldest son WILLIAM LOCHEIL CAMERON GRAHAM died as the result of an accident while on duty aboard the hospital ship Madras in Bombay Harbour.

So he must have been shipped home!

Robert is also on the Callander war memorial. They were half-brothers as reported in the Stirling Observer of 15th August 1916:
Private Robert L McNab, 16th HLI was killed on 1st July 1916; he was 34 years of age. His half-brother Private William McNab, 16th HLI was also killed on 1st July 1916 at practically the same moment. He was 35 years of age and leaves a widow and four children. Both were employed by Glasgow Corporation at Loch Katrine Waterworks. They enlisted at the same time and both died of bullet wounds.
