Although this is a link and should go in the links section I thought I'd post this here first in case anyone had seen or heard of this before.

This link takes you to the complete, transcribed, indexed, photos and maps and roll of honour included History of the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry in the Great War!

You can cut and paste the info. it's not on .pdf. I'm going to have a search to see what else they have online...

17th HLI War Service

Includes a nominal Roll 1914-1915 and photographs of two VC winners already listed on memorials posted on the forum. Lt Col William Anderson VC of Glasgow and Sgt James Turnbull VC of Oban.

It describes Turnbull thus...

"Of a band of heroes he was the beloved leader and super-hero".
