I believe the man on the right, wearing the sheepskin to be Cpl. John Paul, R.A.M.C.
Can anyone pick anything out which would help identify rank or anything else?
I have found a John Paul on the Bridge of Allan Roll of Honour, and on both the 1915 & 1920 Valuation Rolls confirming he was living at 'Old Keir', (Dunblane/Lecropt) before and after the war. This address matches other info I already have.
I can't find anything apart from a 'possible' MIC which gives his number as 33507 and that this man served in the Balkans.

The man on the left is wearing the overseas service chevrons so this dates the photograph as 1918.
I'm not sure at them being RAMC as they are wearing 1903 bandoliers for mounted troops for rifle bullets. Their legware suggests to me that they were drivers of a horse drawn vehicle. Would RAMC drivers wear rifle bandoliers?
They may well have done that as they are not medics. They don't have any trade bages on their arms.
I'll ask someone who may know more.
Thanks

Have you managed to find any further info yet Adam?
You were correct about him/them being drivers horse-drawn vehicles as I have been given another photo of John Paul sitting on a horse pulling a red-cross wagon type of thing.
The MIC I had found proved not to be for the correct man (No. 33507) as stupidly, I didn't check CWGC for a death. John Paul, No. 33507, RAMC, died in August 1915.

Anne
Sorry, yes, they are in the Army Serice Corps but ASC men were attached to RAMC Field Ambulances. From the other photograph it seems likely he was the driver of a horse drawn ambulance.

So, he was ASC attached to a Field Ambulance.
Thanks
