A beautiful stained glass window installed by the McConnels of Knockdolian in 1920 in memory of their kindred and friends who died in World War 1.
It provides an interesting insight to the family's social circle during the Edwardian era.
My thanks to Ken Morrison for helping to track down the background to some of these men.

The window states that Edgar Cobbold served with the Royal Flying Corps. The Cobbold Family History (http://family-tree.cobboldfht.com/people/view/378) confirms this, stating: "Like his elder brother he went to Marlborough College arriving in January 1908 and leaving in the summer of 1912 (C3). He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Cheshire regiment in 1914 but transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in 1915. He died flying near Beauchamps on 12th January 1916 very soon after arriving in France. He is commemorated in the Memorial Hall at Marlborough and in the church at Earls Barton." |
