Do we have this on the forum anywhere?

Apparently 35 of their employees were killed in WW1.

I'm surprised given the nature of their work that so many men were released for war service.

RCAHMS have a 1960 photograph of the plaque on the B&S works wall but there is no image online.

http://canmore.rcahms.gov.uk/en/details/565970/

Even if the original memorial is gone hopefully the photograph is clear enough to list the 35 names.

Thanks

Adam

Looks like the B&S bowling club still exists - I wonder if the plaque is there?

I've just e-mailed the Social Convenor from Bowling Club and made enquiries.

It was one of those online enquiry things, so we'll have to wait and see what, if anything transpires.

While I'm 'at-it', I e-mailed Canmore to see if a transcription of the names would be possible.

After all, if you don't ask, you don't get!!

Success!!

I got a lovely reply from Mr. Joseph Waterfield at RCAHMS containing a transcription of the names.

I will post in it the 'Other Memorials' thread, Glasgow & Dunbartonshire.

All we need now is a photo.
