Born 7th August, 1894. Baptised 10th September, 1894, London, (parish of St, Michael, Pimlico). Home address Chester Sq.
1911 Census 16 year old school pupil Eton College, Windsor, Bucks.
Son of Lieut. Colonel Edward Tufnell, J.P., of Eaton Sq., and Crowhurst Park, nr. Battle, Sussex. His father died in August, 1909.

Cemetery: DELVILLE WOOD CEMETERY, LONGUEVAL
Additional Information: Son of Lt. Col. Edward and Ellen Bertha Tufnell, of 46, Eaton Square, London, S.W.I.
Capt. Tufnell's headstone bears an inscription in Latin - Esse quam videri "To be, rather than to seem (to be)".
He is also recorded on the Roll of Honour of Eton College where he was educated. He left Eton in 1912.
