Trying to find if there is a memorial for the village of Quarter Lanarkshire?
A cousin of my grandfather James Torrance 16302 son of Mrs Abram/Abraham Torrance of Tileworks Cottage is listed as a 13th Royal Scots casualty at Loos. |

There isn't a civic memorial in Quarter, but perhaps in the local church? |

I checked the Hamilton war memorial name panels to see if they covered the parish but it looks like they are for the burgh. Ferniegair has its own war memorial within the parish so maybe there was another memorial or roll of honour for Quarter?
Thanks

Thanks,
I will nip past Quarter for a look next time I visit Stonehouse.
I had wondered on the Hamilton and Larkhall memorials but no joy. Glassford village was originally West Quarter I can check parish boundaries.
There were Torrance family around Quarter a few years back my fathet mentioned as far cousins. |

Quarter memorial is a plaque of 26 names located in the church.
I have some pictures of these thanks to Mr Burns.
James Torrance is listed. |

That's great news that you tracked it down.
It willl be good to see the photographs because it looks like you've identified another civic memorial for Lanarkshire.
Kind regards

My appologies,
Mr Alan Johnstone passed on the pictures. |

I received the photos you sent via email - can you confirm we have permission to post them on the forum? |
