Hi and welcome to the forum.
Sorry but I would guess that there isn't a civic memorial for Robert to be named on. As far as I'm aware there isn't a local memorial for Maryhill and Garscadden Street (Cowcaddens?) would have been covered by the main Glasgow Memorial.
You might be lucky and find him on a Church memorial but that whole area has been so knocked about (sorry redeveloped) that I suspect that most churches are long gone.
Do you know his occupation? He might be named on a Works Memorial? _________________ Ken |

Hi Ken and thanks for your reply.
Robert is listed on the WW1 Glasgow Roll of Honour so I guess the George Square Centoph (which displays no names) is where he is remembered.
I was hoping his name would be on display somewhere rather than in a book inside the City Chambers.
His occupation on his Service Papers is listed as Motor Driver --- not a lot of help.

It seems unfortunate that so many glaswegians aren't named on a memorial. Unless a church or work one. |

Hi Ken
Yes I knew about the London Gazette. Unfortunately it does not tell me what he did to earn the Medal. Thank you for giving your time and effort. Much appreciated.
Hi DelBoy
Yes I agree it is unfortunate that so many names are hidden or lost.

During WW1 local newspapers reported and sometimes included pictures of those killed or wounded. Would anyone know which newspapers covered the Maryhill area in 1916 and were they might be archived??? _________________ Collecting and researching to The Royal Scots Fusiliers (21st Foot). |
