This Memorial Tablet is on the external wall of the Band Hall, Buchan Lane, Broxburn. The lane is to the left of Broxburn Post Office, 1-3 East Main Street, Broxburn, EH52 5AA. The Band Hall is on the right, at the top of the lane. Main road is A899.
The Memorial was unveiled on 7 April 1917, and originally four men were named. It was sculpted by Messrs. Kerr Brothers. A concert was held by the 2/4 Royal Scots Band and residents of Coggeshall, Essex(where the Band was stationed) and raised over £18(around£1,400 today) for the Memorial Tablet.
The Memorial was unveiled on 7 April 1917. The names of Robert and Archibald Webster were added later. Nineteen Bandsmen voluntarily enlisted in January 1915 and the Bandsmen left Broxburn on Saturday, 6 February 1915 to join 4th Royal Scots at Edinburgh Castle. After training, twelve of that number joined fighting units in France.
