It will be a very interesting and useful reference book indeed. It must have been quite a difficult project to research with respect to the paucity of regimental/battalion nominal rolls. I research the 5th KOSB and know of eight pipers who died in service with the battalion, so I look forward to comparing notes.

Recently received my copy of this new publication and it mentions too in the acknowledgements the recently retired archivist at the Black Watch museum at Perth - Tommy Smyth and also the former Pipe Major Alistair Duthie Black Watch .

A well compiled book by this author again and well detailed too

Good morning Stuart,

How'd we compare? Did I have the same 5th K.O.S.B. Pipers that you had? And what do you think of the mystery 5th Battalion Piper in the Appendix; Donald or Duncan MacKeller or neither?

When you get a chance Stuart, I'd like to hear your thoughts on who's who. And of course any additional piper or details would be welcome.
