The memorial to the founder of the S.A.S. Regiment David Stirling features a bronze sculpture of the soldier set on top of a group of large boulders which stands within a circle enclosed by a low wall. The memorial is approached by a paved path leading from the car park.
Some more information on Stirling can be viewed here:
http://www.electricscotland.com/history/men/stirling.htm
http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usbiography/stu/davidstirling.html
The monument stands on the A820 on the north side of the road between the A9 and Doune. The memorial is well sign posted and there is a small car park.

This Statue of Sir A D Stirling DSO, OBE , Scots Guards & SAS was erected by the SAS Association on land donated by his nephew , Archie Stirling on the Keir estate .
The statue initially had Sir A D Stirling holding a pair of Binoculars and there was a leather strap hanging down from them . This leather strap seems to have been removed .
the link ELECTRIC SCOTLAND on the initial posting by Jamie McGinley submitted to this website on 14 Nov 2007 you will see the leather strap coming from the pair of binoculars in the Colonel's hand .
I see in the link to Electric Scotland that I have got a mention in the write up on Col Sir A D Stirling !
I also note that Undiscovered Scotland website says that the Colonel is buried in the RC Churchyard at Morar but in fact he is buried in BEORAID CEMETERY, Morar and his headstone reads
Sir David Stirling , DSO, OBE , 15 November 1915 - 4 November 1990
and on the rear of his headstone is the SAS badge ( His headstone is next to the headstone of a sister of his Irene Stirling who died in 1992 . The Colonel's brother in law was Major Simon Ramsay, Black Watch later Earl of Dalhousie Brechin Castle Brechin ).

I had an article published in The Scottish Genealogist - journal of the Scottish Genealogy Society Vol L No 4 - December 2003 pages 154 & 155 called " Colonel Sir A David Stirling , DSO, OBE, ( 1915 -1990) by Patrick W Anderson.
The photograph on this journal shows the leather strap coming from the binoculars in the Colonel's left hand .
Also published a short article in the Scots Magazine - September 2005 - pages 328 & 329 called " SAS Founder "
This photograph is a variation of the statue showing the Colonel and the SAS plaque below him.
