Just spotted this in the Catstrand Summer Season booklet. The Catstrand is in New Galloway.
Fri 15 Aug at 7.30 pm. Entry fee is £4 (includes tea and coffee).
To mark the centenary of the First World War, Guy Cuthbertson will give a talk about his latest publication: a biography of the poet Wilfred Owen. Owen was one of the leading poets at the time of the First World War and this biography includes examples of his work as well as an account of his life.
Guy will give readings from his book, discuss its themes and the research involved in his practise. Following this there will be a question and answer session and a chance to meet the author.
Dr Guy Cuthberston is Senior Lecturer in English Literature at Liverpool Hope University. He studied at St Andrews University and then Oxford University and has held academic posts at several universities, including Oxford, St Andrews and London.
This is an ideal event for anyone interested in poetry, history, or those who would like to remember the events of the First World War in this particular time of commemoration. |
