UKNIWM Ref 38694
Located in Ruthwell Savings Bank museum at OS Map Ref NY 102 674
This is obviously not a Scottish memorial as it is from Birmingham but it is currently in Scotland and so is listed. I had heard rumours of this memorial so tracked it down to an unlikely location. The museum is barely the size of a front parlour.
UKNIWM currently reports "2001: CURRENT LOCATION OF THE WAR MEMORIAL IS UNKNOWN. WHEN THE BRANCH IT WAS IN WAS CLOSED IN 1998 IT WAS MOVED TO A LOCAL BRANCH. ATTEMPTS TO FIND OUT WHICH ONE HAVE PROVED FRUITLESS". I will let them know it is found

Well done Paul. It's a shame it isn't in Birmingham but it least it has been traced and photographed.

Got the following from David Parkes who runs the BMB History web site.
Thank you very much for informing me of the whereabouts of the WW2 plaque.
I have been very anxious to trace the location of the plaque, although I
had assumed it had disappeared into the archives of Birmingham City Council.
Obviously, the plaque is a very important part of the BMB's history, and I
was keen to record its existence on my website - you have now enabled me to
do that. It was only due to the amazing memory of one of my ex-Bank
colleagues, that I even had the surnames of the three members of staff
recorded, as the paperwork relating to the dedication service that I found,
did not mention their names.
The plaque was probably removed from the Broad Street Head Office of the
Bank when the building was refurbished during its TSB days in about 1985.
At the same time, portraits of Neville Chamberlain and former General
Managers of the Bank were removed. I wonder if these are also in Scotland.
Thanks again for providing me with this information, and the link to the
excellent photograph of the plaque.
Regards

Thanks Ken for passing on the info.
I did not notice the portraits, but they may be there but not on display.
The museum has a website http://www.savingsbanksmuseum.co.uk/ and the contact page has a telephone number
