James Higgins Canadian highland light infantry ww1

Can any one tell me more details about this lad.
He was Born in Neilston East Renfrewshire- joined up in Canada
was gassed at Vimy ridge in 1917 survived the war .

This is a page from the National Archives Canada web-site showing a list of all 'James Higgins' who served with the CEF in the Great War. Click each name and it will lead you to his attestation papers, which includes some basic biographical information. From this you should be able to find your man.

Once you know who he is you can actually order his entire service record from the NA web-site which will give you quite a bit of additional information.

Let me know how you get on, as I might be able to offer some further help from this side of the pond.

Hi I have two James Higgins in my folders one died F&F 12.5.1917,recived MM, his number 20422,he was a Lance Corpral with the Royal Scots Lothian regiment 11th battalion.He was 21 when he died from his wounds.

Second James Higgins 2057,was a private who died in France 26th August 1916,he was shot for cowardice.

I don't know if any of these fellas fit but I thought I should pass it on Smile

Ive also got a little bit of info on a John Higgins,hometown of Motherwell ,he was a private with Canadian Constingent 1st.There is no image of him but there should be a bit on him being wounded in the 20th May 1915 issue of the Evening Times Newspaper on page 3. Just added it to the thread incase he was connected to your James.
