Can I please ask what the Query was in relation to Patrick Wordsworth 10858 1st Bn Highland light infantry? I have just found he is related to my wife and I found his 1914-1918 medal in my home just yesterday.
My Wifes Great Grandmother was a Wordsworth and I believe Patrick was her Nephew.

Hi Matt,
Very interesting post. Patrick's grandmother, Roseanne Duffy or Sweeney, was my gg aunt. Patrick was brought up by his granny. PM me your e-mail as I have done comprehensive research through the Duffy line.

Mark

Recently found this excerpt from Hansard:
MOTHER'S PENSION (MRS. WORDSWORTH).
HC Deb 11 May 1922 vol 153 c2395W 2395W
Mr. MACLEAN: asked the Minister of Pensions whether he is aware that the parent's pension awarded to Mrs. Wordsworth, of 123, Blackburn Street, Plantation, Glasgow, on account of her son, Lance-Corporal Patrick Wordsworth, No. 10858, Highland Light Infantry, has been stopped since the month of March; that this woman is 60 years of age and totally unable to earn her livelihood, and has no other source of income than this pension; and whether he will take steps to see that this pension is renewed?
Mr. MACPHERSON: I am looking into this case, and will communicate with my hon. Friend at an early date. |
