This Great War Memorial Window was installed in the former Blairgowrie Parish Church. It was unveiled and dedicated on Sunday 14th November, 1920. In 1976 when the church closed fragments of the window were removed to New Cumnock Parish Church, Ayrshire. After many enquiries slides were found containing pictures taken of the window before it's closure;

BLAIRGOWRIE ADVERTISER: 20.11.1920
MEMORIAL WINDOW UNVEILED AT BLAIRGOWRIE
REV. DR M’CLYMONT ON PATRIOTISM
A REMINDER TO THE PROSPEROUS AND FORTUNATE
The memorial window, which is to the left of the pulpit, and is a lovely piece of workmanship, is in three sections, the first illustrating the words, “I have finished my course”; the second, “I have fought a good fight”; and the third, “I have kept the faith”. On a scroll at the top of the window is inscribed - “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand”; and the inscription at the foot reads:- “To the glory of God, and in affectionate and lasting remembrance of the members of Blairgowrie Parish Church who gave their lives in the Great War, 1914- 1919. Their names liveth for evermore”. |

Well done tracking this photograph down. Great detective work.
Any reason why the pieces went to Ayrshire, was it to another church?

Richard Bain told me that one of the church windows at New Cumnock had blown out during a storm around the time Blairgowrie Parish Church was closing. Contact was made and pieces of the Blairgowrie window were taken to replace those damaged.
The piece showing St. George can be seen on New Cumnock Parish Church website (scroll towards bottom of page);
