Mark

I notice he is buried in Niederzwehren Cemetery, Germany. I take it he died as a P.o.W.

Adam,

I don't have any information re. Robert Robertson.
Somebody more knowledgable than myself could probably give an educated guess that he died a POW given the circumstances.

I'm just trying to track casualties, with links to this area, who are commemorated elsewhere.

cheers,
Mark

Adam,

By chance I was looking through some notes I jotted down some time ago and found this;

Blairgowrie Advertiser: 25/01/1919

Mr David Robertson, High Street (Burrelton) received information that his brother, Robert, who joined the 9th Black Watch about two years ago, and was taken prisoner in March 1918, died in a German Prison Camp on 28th October last. His brother William was killed on 28th May last, after serving about three years in France.

Now that answers you query but I still don't know where Robert is commemorated, if at all.

I checked Cargill & Collace with no joy. I also checked Dunkeld/Little Dunkeld as Robert was born Dalguise. There is a Robert Robertson commemorated but I have details of another Robert Robertson for that one. William Robertson is not named at Dunkeld either, or Mid-Atholl!

regards,
Mark

I have answered my own question. Robert Robertson is here;
http://warmemscot.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=1725
His brother William, referred to in the Blairgowrie Advertiser piece is also listed.
