The name of Pte. Theodore Byrne Gracie was added to the CWGC Debt of Honour register today.

Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Private
Regiment/Service: Royal Irish Fusiliers
Unit Text: 5th Bn.
Age: 36
Date of Death: 16/02/1918
Service No: 15814
Additional information: Son of Robert and Mary Gracie; husband of Annie Gracie of Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.
N.B.: Recent research has shown that Private Gracie is buried here.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Section 229 Lair 72. Compartment 1
Cemetery: OLD MONKLAND CEMETERY

I am delighted that Theodore Gracie has been accepted by CWGC. It makes all the searching worth while and one more "in from the cold.

North Lanarkshire Council plan to add his name to the Coatbridge Civic Memorial.

I checked the Monument last night and the name of Theodore B. Gracie has now been added.
Another brave man recognised and remembered.

I understand CWGC are to erect a war grave headstone and this is on order along with a number of others for use in Scotland. Granite stones tend to be produced quicker than Portland which may help reduce the waiting period.

Hopefully it may be in place before the end of the year. Of course, Theodore has waited 93 years already.
