He landed in France on 23rd Nov 1915 and fell in action during the final operations of the Battles of the Somme and is commemorated on the Thieipval Memorial to the Missing.

He is aged 20, a railway surfaceman with the NBR, in Garelochhead, on the 1911 census, with his older brother and widowed mother. There is an 1890 birth certificate for him.
