Iain Anderson , Regional Supervisor Scotland of CWGC informs me that headstones are to be erected at the graves of the following in WELLSHILL CEMETERY , PERTH . The work will start during next week ( 11 July 2011) .

The headstones to be erected are :

Pte D H Duncan, Cameron Highlanders death date 18 December 1919.

Pte M G Gillespie, Scottish Horse, death date 4 March 1917.

Staff Sgt R T Henderson , Royal Army Service Corps , death date 29 December 1918.

Pte Husband , The Black Watch , death date 21 September 1917.

Also placing a Pedestal marker in front of a family memorial which is no longer adequate in Perth Wellshill Cemetery.

Pte W Sword , The Black Watch , death date 3 May 1918.

A few months ago the Commission erected a headstone at the grave of

Second Lieutenant A D MUIR, The Black Watch , death date 12 April 1917 ,aged 30 years .

Are these new headstones for "In From The Cold" men or replacements?

These are just recently confirmed as CWGC war dead . They cover the criteria for the Commission's requirements in relation to deaths etc .

I presume that the list of four war dead in this cemetery did not have a marker headstone of a family member and thankfully now they are to be identified by a CWGC headstone which is excellent . They are as you said soon to be "in from the cold !"

Maybe several of this project members may have been involved in the research to identify some of these war dead as CWGC and I know that Mark Duffy and Jim (in Aberdeenshire ) were involved in the 2nd Lt AD Muir , BW research to prove his death as a Commission death . I thank you for this and hopefully family members will be able to find their graves now the Commission has completed their excellent work this coming week ( Monday 11 July 2011)

You will find details of Muir, Gillespie, Henderson and Husband in the Non Comms section and were accepted dating back to 2009 -2010. Their cases were forwarded by me to MOD / CWGC, with initial details uncovered by Mark Duffy. They have since then been commemorated by CWGC on the Debt of Honour Roll. Further research located the unmarked graves.

I am not aware of D H Duncan. He is not an IFCP or GWF case and may be a replacement headstone.
