Identified on SNWM as No. 7417, Cameronians, 4th Bn.
Born at Airdrie.
Died at Home.

According to 'Airdrie & the Great War' .......
He died from Pneumonia at Glasgow and his address at enlistment was 25 Mack Street Airdrie.

He's commemorated on Airdrie Civic Memorial, Broomknoll Church and (I think) Caldercruix Church as well.

Can I find him on CWGC - nope! Confused

As usual ........ HELP!!

Anne

It is likely that he was discharged from service, but is not listed on CWGC because his eventual cause of death is not related to his war-service.

Anne

There is no surviving service file to assist in this case and nothing to show he was ever overseas. Although not acceptable for CWGC it might well be he was a pre-war TF man and commemorated on the local memorial on account of this.

At least he's remembered somewhere.
