I am trying to find info about this man. On Cabrach memorial it says
Wireless Operator William Taylor, Bridgend
"Salmo" Torpedoed Died 11 Nov 1917
I have found details that HMT Salmo was torpedoed by U60 off Ireland but can't find him on CWGC
any ideas...

both naval- history.net and uboat.net/ww1 have
SALMO, 1,721grt, defensively-armed, 7 April 1917, 210 miles NW from the Fastnet, torpedoed without warning and sunk by submarine U60, 2 lives lost _________________ Ken |

I have details of him, he does not qualify for CWGC.
William Taylor died at home with nothing linking his death to the sinking in April 1917. I seem to remember that Wireless Telegraphists were employees of the Marconi company and being civilians they still would not qualify even if lost at sea due to sinking. _________________ Jim

I've got a wireless operator in my Arbroath casualty database who was employed by Marconi and died when his ship was sunk, he is on cwgc. |

Del
Some can qualify, in certain circumstances, but I did not think it likely in the case of HMT Salmo as these vessels were usually crewed by civilians who were not linked to RN or held a seaman's ticket.
The two men who died when she was sunk in April 1917 are not listed by CWGC. _________________ Jim
