Ex Chindit etc etc. His trick was to throw his monocle up in the air and catch it in his eye.
Recommend ' The Watery Maze ' The Black Watch and the King's Enemies' ' Beyond the Chindwin' and ' The Trumpet in the Hall ' by him.
