My Husbands Grandfather was Roland Ward , I don't know if he was in the service. He came to the US in the 1920's , as for his father Samuel Ward- again I don't know but I would love to find out and pass that information on to my husband and father in-law.
thank you
Sandie ( I like him, that's how I feel after a long day at work ) |

There is no Roland Ward with an Army Service Record surviving on Ancestry. There are many named Samuel Ward but without further information it is not possible to see if any is your husband's relative.
For men who died there are many other sources of information of course.
If you know where he lived in Scotland, I suggest you search that area on the project and look specifically for Rolls of Honour as these will list all those who served (including those who survived).

Hi Sandy
might be worth looking at US census - i think it was the 1920 census which had a column for WW1 vets.
When I was doing family research some time ago one of my relatives had said yes to this question even though his service was in the British Army.
