Do you know of an unwanted, unloved or unused war memorial plaque?
Hello everyone,
My name is Jimmy and I work for The One Show. I'm hoping you can help us help a One Show viewer!
Ex-serviceman Michael Lyons has got in touch with us asking for help with his quest to find a war memorial plaque for his local school.
Through his work with the Royal British Legion in New Addington, Michael's made contact with a local junior school promising the children he would find them an unwanted war memorial or plaque for them to adopt.
Michael said, "The plaque would give the children a meaning to Remembrance, names that they can relate to and actually look up to."
The school wouldn't own the memorial, but the children would adopt and care for it - helping them to understand the act of Remembrance.
You can watch Michael's film and find out more at our website here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/theoneshow/getinvolved
Do you know of an unwanted, unloved or unused war memorial? Then please get in touch!
If you can help Michael, please get in touch with me:

I have sent Jimmy an e-mail with details of the fifty three NatWest Bank war memorials held in Storage by the Royal bank of Scotland in Edinburgh.
If Jimmy contacts the Group Archives they might be able to arrange for one of these memorials to go back to the part of the country it should be in.

Jimmy phoned me after I sent an email in reply to an appeal on their website. He showed great interest in our work and in memorials in general. I confess that I did not think about the bank memorials but I have drawn his attention to a large collection of unwanted memorials in the cellar of the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Lets hope Jimmy has more luck in Chelsea then. He's contacted the RBS Archives but they are not willing to loan any of their memorials to the school.
