This shoreside memorial betwen the town of Largs and the Yacht Haven to the south is a well known local landmark. It is a thin tower, 70 feet high built in 1912 to a design by JS Kay of Newton Stewart.
It commemorates the Battle of Largs on 2nd October 1263. This was the deciding battle in removing the Viking Norse from control of the West Coast of Scotland by the Scots.

As this memorial commemorates a battle I'm moving it from the 'civic' section to the 'other' section
Regards
