Hello!
I am a brand new newbie!
I am trying to locate the Dalmeny and Queensferry Cemetery, where, according to the CWGC, my great grandfather is buried. Despite goggling and looking at various council websites, this particular cemetery is proving a little elusive! can anybody help please?
My Great Grandfather was Henry Gilbert Lovell who served as a 'greaser' on HMHS Garth Castle. He died in 1918 and I am going to Southampton tomorrow to look up some of the crew lists for this ship.
Any information about the cemetery - or indeed the Garth castle would be very gratefully received!
Thanks,
Philip |

I've just discovered the Scottish War Graves project forum. I'm sorry if I've posted to the wrong site/forum/group. It's just that I'm new, I'm not Scottish (duck quickly ) and I'm weary of not finding the cemetery. (Even Googlemaps don't pick out the cemetery! )

I'll hazard a guess that it's in South Queensferry.
The name as used on the CWGC might not actually be what the cemetery is known as. For example, CWGC have a cemetery called "Bellshill (Bothwell) Cemetery". The signs at the cemetery have it as Bothwellpark. |

Hi Roxy,
Thanks for pointing me to the Christmas Card. I've just been to Southampton to look at crew lists for Garth Castle - they've got the 1910, 1911 & 1913, by my great grandfather was not included. I noticed that the greasers in the crew were in their late 20's and 30's. My gg'pa was 65 when he died (of heart failure & pneumonia) in 1918 and I'd guess that due to the large number of men involved in the great war that he filled a gap. THA have the 1918 crew list and so I shall be heading off there.
