William is named on the North Berwick War Memorial as:
W.G. GEDDES. PTE
William George Geddes – age 26 – Private (18329) 13th Battalion, Royal Scots.
William was an hotel porter living with his family at 25 Melbourne Place, North Berwick when he enlisted in January 1915. He landed with his battalion in France in July 1915 but he was killed six weeks later during the battle of Loos.
Born 1889 in Braemar, Aberdeenshire. Son of the late Peter Stevenson Geddes (died 1892) and of Lavinia (Smith) Geddes; later Mrs. Thomson of Chicago. (Source: family grave in Braemar and Service record)
Husband of Agnes (Taylor) Geddes of 28 Upper Bridge Street, Stirling who he married in 1910 in Rattray, Perthshire.
Missing in Action on 26 September 1915 and named on the Loos Memorial, France.
Also named on the Abbey Church memorial in North Berwick.
