Anne,
Stumbled across the entry for John Rendall. I see the CWGC has him Blairgowrie, Perthshire but you have listed Kincardineshire. Any idea which is correct?
thanks,

The entry has no full stop after Balirgowrie.
Kincardine Observer (is the paper name)
Sorry for missing out the full stop. It's the way I use my fields on the database, I just copy and paste and the fields run into one after another.
Thanks for pointing it out. Anne |

What a lot of work you have done there Anne, thanks for sharing all this information. My gran and her daughter are buried in this cemetery. Her daughter served in the ATS during WW2, but MOD couldn't find her service record when I tried to order it.
My gran's first son also died during WW2, but he was born in Maryhill, Glasgow and the family were living in Fife at the time of his death. Gran didn't move to Fettercairn until '46. My Dad (her 2nd son) also served with the Army from 42-47 in various regiments. Too many to mention.
I'm going there in the next few days to lay some flowers. It looked beautiful the last time I was there when all the rape seed oil was in bloom and there was this vivid yellow surrounding the cemetery. It's a peaceful place. |

When I go to France I visit a grave for a Markirk man. George Dutch his home is not too far away from Fettercairn. He is the one man I think of as the most southern in my usual area of research. I do from Marykirk to Morayshire..... but I then thought that Shetland didn't have many researchers so did it and then researched the Orkney info. It's only next door when you go on the North boat.
I am happy to share all my info. _________________ Researching WWI info from Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire & Morayshire. |

The two Middletons were brothers. They are commemorated on their mother's gravestone in Fettercairn churchyard. Unfortunately you can't see it, or at least I haven't as it is obscured by the bushes growing over the wall of the Arnhall enclosure.

Angus Archives have some postcards from Walter Bruce to his mother. They are in a collection called something like "Mrs Bruce Edzell Postcards". There a are one or two examples here:

Found this entry in the war diary whilst looking for something else. A little difficult to read in parts so I post the image so you can make up your own mind.
